Merry Christmas from the archaeology museum!

Pictured is a model of a kudurru, a type of boundary stone used in ancient Babylonia. This kudurru is unfinished; the last register is left blank. At the top are the principal Babylonian deities, followed by a procession of musical gods and animals. The snake encircling the base is the emblem of Marduk.

You can visit the kudurru and other artifacts at the Lynn H. Wood Archaeological museum when it reopens on January 12th.

Enjoy the holidays!
