Joan Burke was chair of the Alice T. Miner Colonial Collection's board of trustees from 1997 until 2015. Under her leadership, the museum carried out long-needed building upgrades and initiated a robust program of collections conservation and care. Joan helped make sure that Alice Miner was never eclipsed by the shadow of William Miner. We are truly grateful that she gave so much of her time and energy to the Alice for so long.

Joan T. Burke, 92, passed away peacefully at home in Albany, NY, on Dec. 27, 2025, surrounded by family. Born April 1, 1933, in Louisville, KY, she...

Admiring the toy pile one last time before it gets packed up and brought down to the United Way in Plattsburgh! As always, we were blown away by the generosity of our visitors this holiday season. In addition to the toys, we also collected over $1000 in cash donations! The giving spirit of Alice and William Miner is truly still alive and well in our community.

If you've visited the Alice this holiday season, you've seen the incredible Marshall Field & Company storefront on the third floor (and if you haven't, there's still time!). We want to say THANK YOU to everyone who made this display happen: Jim West, who built the storefront and clock; Debbie Calisti, who added her artistic touches to Jim's work; Foster's Tent Rentals and the Clinton County Historical Association, who lent components of the display; and Kim Howley, Carol Castellucci, and Ellyn LaPier who did the window dressing!

The museum will be open to visitors through December 23--drop in any time Tuesday-Saturday, 10 am-4pm!
