The Esther Raab Holocaust Museum & Goodwin Education Center Reduce prejudice and lessen hatred, bigotry, bullying, and violence against all groups STUDENT COMMUNITY SERVICE
The Richard C.

The mission the JCRC's The Esther Raab Holocaust Museum & Goodwin Education Center is to use the experience of the Holocaust as a vehicle for teaching people about the past and educating them for the future. The objective of this effort is not only to remember the events of the Holocaust, but also to teach the lessons of the Holocaust, to reduce prejudice and affect attitude such that there will b

e a lessening of hatred, bigotry, and violence against all groups in the future. The Esther Raab Holocaust Museum & Goodwin Education Center Offers Many Programs and Resources:

PROGRAMS FOR STUDENTS
We are dedicated to teaching about the Holocaust, preserving the experiences of those who survived, and honoring the memory of those who perished. According to statistics from the FBI, New Jersey is home to the second highest number of hate crimes in the country. Teaching the lessons of the Holocaust is an important and effective means to reduce prejudice and affect attitudes to lessen hatred, bigotry, and violence against all groups. Goodwin-Josiah DuBois Humanitarian Award is given to deserving students who exemplify the outstanding attributes of Josiah DuBois, a local hero who stood up against the evils of N**i Germany and whose actions led to the rescue of more than 200,000 Jews during the Holocaust. All high school students in grades 11-12 who participate in clubs or activities that work for tolerance, humanitarianism, and respect for all are eligible to apply. TEACHER TRAINING
We offer accredited workshops for teachers both at our Center and also at your school. In partnership with the New Jersey Commission on Holocaust Education, as well as national organizations, such as the USHMM, the ADL, and others, we work with teachers to help them fulfill the NJ Mandate to teach about the Holocaust and incorporate the lessons of this terrible time in history into their classrooms. TEACHING RESOURCES
It is our goal to help teachers, whenever possible, to enrich the lessons they teach their students about the Holocaust. So we are happy to share with you copies of movies, in either VHS or DVD format; recorded testimonies of Holocaust survivors and concentration camp liberators; posters; and books from our vast library collection. Additionally, we are happy to help you locate resources that may be available from other sources. GENERATIONS AFTER
Established for the children and grandchildren of Holocaust survivors, who are linked to each other with the shared goals of preserving their family histories and honoring the legacy of their parents and grandparents. The mission of this group is to share resources and programming ideas, provide emotional support, and work towards preserving the history of the Holocaust while using its lessons to help create a community of mutual respect and acceptance for people of all races and religions.

We are saddened by the passing of Abe Foxman. He survived the Holocaust in Europe as a child and became a leader in combating antisemitism and hatred across the world as the longtime national director of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). He also served on the NJ Commission on Holocaust Education and was our community's Yom HaShoah speaker in 2022.

May his memory be a blessing.

Today is Victory in Europe Day.

On this day in 1945, N**i Germany unconditionally surrendered to the Allies, ending World War II in Europe.

We shall never forget the bravery and sacrifice of the Allied armies, who saved the world from N**ism.

2025 was the third highest year on record for antisemitic incidents since the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) began tracking them in 1979.

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week! Thank you to all of the teachers we work with who continue to educate our students about the Holocaust, the lessons we can all learn from this time in history, how to be an Upstander, and how we can play a role in making our community and world a more respectful and accepting place for all.

Today, over 25 high school students from Moorestown High School, Moorestown Township Public Schools, joined local Holocaust survivors for an intergenerational Café Europa organized by Jewish Family and Children's Service - JFCS of Southern New Jersey. Additionally, Jewish Community Relations Council of Southern New Jersey - JCRC Executive Director Sabrina Spector highlighted the parallels between the hatred seen during the Holocaust and the antisemitism that persists today.

These lunches give the students the unique opportunity to converse with these eyewitnesses to history and hear their stories. With a shrinking Survivor population, it is more important than ever that this generation of students hear first-hand accounts of what occurred during the Holocaust. When there are no more Survivors left, these students and their generation must tell the stories of these Survivors so that this dark time in history never happens again.

During and after the program, students joined many of the Survivors as they toured the museum to learn more about the Holocaust through personal artifacts and photographs.

On Monday, April 13th the Jewish Community Relations Council of Southern New Jersey - JCRC's Esther Raab Holocaust Museum and Goodwin Education Center hosted our community’s Annual Yom HaShoah Commemoration at Congregation Kol Ami. Hundreds of members of our community attended.

There were clergy members from across the community, along with dozens of Holocaust survivors and children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of Survivors. Holocaust survivor, Ruth Hartz, shared her painful story of survival during the Holocaust as a hidden child in France.

She spoke of the importance of continuing to share her story and other Survivors’ stories for future generations. Ruth emphasized the importance of educating students, teachers, and community members about the horrors of the Holocaust to not only pass down these stories but to ensure that no one can deny that this time in history ever happened.
