Jude Gallery is a recipient of the Artist Run Chicago Grant 2023!

We could not be more grateful to receive this invaluable support from the which will help our transition into a new space and further expansion of the gallery’s programming in 2024. Our future programs would not be possible without this incredible aid for artist-run spaces and platforms in Chicago. It is an honor to be a part of this city’s deep history of artist-run spaces and, like many others, are a single-handed team, making the best of the challenges of running a space. The Hyde Park Art Centers mission to help artist-run spaces thrive is a light, and highlights the continued need to make viable the life of the special community we have.

Congratulations to all the other well-deserving recipients doing important work in Chicago: ¡Anímate! Studio,{\}() {\}?‡!(){\} Tangential Unspace Art Lab, AMFM, Apparatus Projects, Bird Show, Blanc Gallery, Brown Wall Project, CCAM: Center for Concrete and Abstract Machines, Compound Yellow, Contra Corriente 2024 + Porta(til) Design Project, Dragonfly Gallery & Creative Spaces, in c/o: Black women (in care of Black women), Inga, Jude Gallery, Liberated Arts Movement, Marimacha Monarca Press, Narrow Bridge Arts Club, PO Box Collective, POCAS (People of Color Artist Space), Prairie, PRESS HERE: Center for Mad Culture, Produce Model, Roman Susan, Sandbox Symphony, Sin Cinta Previa, SpaceShift Collective, Terrain Exhibitions, The GREYSTONE Collective, The Optimist Gallery at Depression Press Mfg. & Ink, Inc., The Reservoir Collective, Tiny Table Gallery, TRQPITECA, and VGA Gallery.

𝒜𝓉 𝑅𝑒𝓈𝓉 documentation from an unforgettable one night collaboration - durational performance by .wrld and live flower installation by

As soon as Vince’s flowers were installed and the performance began, the gallery became still - we became still, suddenly aware of ourselves as witnesses to the once in a lifetime unfolding of death and rejuvenation together in a moment of peace.

It was an honor to work with Alé and Vince as Jude’s last in-person arts program in the creation of a most fitting, ceremonial goodbye and welcome. There is only immense gratitude for Alé, Vince, Natasha and Claire for documentation and support, and all the visitors who joined us in this special moment.

As Jude slows itself to the next transition, there are exciting new beginnings and ends on the horizon. We will host one last online program beginning in December and a moving-out celebration shortly following - to be announced soon 💛

Jude Gallery is thrilled to announce “At Rest” - join us next Sunday, 9/3 from 4-9PM for one evening only ⭐️

At Rest is a 5-hour durational performance in collaboration between artist and performer Ále Campos (.wrld) aka Celeste and visual artist Vince Phan () in which Celeste will become the center of an immersive living, breathing still life. In the style of tableau-vivant (or “living picture”), Celeste will lay in a lush bed of flowers that will slowly wilt around their body during the performance as they lie in deep ease. The flowers, laid carefully on and around them in an extravagant arrangement, will exist as adornment and extension of their body.

By stretching time and blurring the linbetween the performer and the gaze of the viewer, At Rest contends with notions of the q***r body's relationship to beauty, gaze, and death as Celeste lays, seemingly dormant between a state of collapse and leisure, romance and rest, languish and devotion.

Existing for just one evening, this ephemeral performance invites viewers to visit Celeste as a witness and participant in this collective moment of rest.
