"Terpsichore: Joyful Movement". Terpsichore is one of the nine Muses in Greek mythology. She is known as "the one who delights in dance" and is synonymous with dance-related activities and artistic inspiration.

Carma Lynn Park's solo art exhibition includes 20 photographs, some of which capture beautiful dance movements. However, she says she is "interested in capturing non-traditional dance scenes, especially moments that are unplanned and unexpected."

Some of the photos do not show dancing at all—instead, they are behind-the-scenes looks at dancers stretching, putting on shoes, or getting instructions.

Other images get away from theaters and stages altogether and show dance at outdoor festivals or in a museum or interpreting images in an art exhibition.

The show will be on view through Sunday, May 3rd at Perkolator Café & Roastery, 6032 W Irving Park Rd, Chicago. You may stop by and see the show--and perhaps grab a coffee and a meal--whenever the cafe is open.

Sunday we had the pleasure of the Taft High School Meet the Artists. Artists from the Freshman Academy and varsity campus as well as beaming friends and families and teachers came to Perkolator Café & Roastery to see the artwork and support the artists. Everyone seemed to have a great time.

That wraps up this year's student show. We look forward to hosting Taft next year and seeing a fresh crop of talent.

Taft High School students show off their talent.

We are impressed by the quality of students' work and are honored to share it with the community. The show is currently on the walls and can be viewed through Sunday, March 1st.

The artists will be here on Sunday, March 1st, from 12 to 2pm. Come and get out of the cold, grab a beverage or a treat, and meet the artists.

Yesterday we installed the "We Are Not Done Yet! Redux" art exhibition with work by 11 artists. The show was inspired by the inauguration and its immediate and ongoing aftermath. Curator / organizer Sara Peak Convery says, "There are hard truths intermingled with some humor, and an embrace of the ongoing human existence which may be the only true resistance left."
