In celebration of Black History Month, Parlour and Ramp is putting on a showcase of the talented Black Artists of the Chicagoland area! Artists do not need to reside within city limits, but must be able to drop off their artwork in person to the gallery space, located at 2130 W 21st St, Chicago IL in the Lower West Side of Pilsen Neighborhood.
Deadline for all submissions is February 1, 2024. Notification of entry will be emailed the following weekend and artwork will need to be in the space no later than February 5th.
Show opens on Friday, February 9th and runs until Friday, February 23. There will be an opening and a closing reception, both from 7pm-10pm.
Meet the Juror: Kristoffer McAfee
Kristoffer McAfee was born in San Diego, California and moved to Chicago as a child to be raised on the south side of the city. During his time in high school at Kenwood Academy, he began his career in mural making and graffiti writing as a creative outlet. After graduating high school and dropping out of med school, he began his career at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago studying Fine Art / Art Therapy.After attending SAIC, he went directly into graduate school to receive his Masters of Fine Art at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. He is currently working on entering a program to receive his PhD while art making in his studio in the Pilsen area of Chicago.
*Each Artist may submit up to four works for consideration. Any and all kind of artwork will be considered. Images must be under 10MB.
