Araceli Zuniga for Fables, installed alongside Margaux Siegel and Rika Kova

Araceli Zuniga is a Mexican-American multidisciplinary artist based in WI and now Chicago, Illinois. Araceli uses playful qualities combined with their understanding of their trauma to encourage a self-restorative process. Through this process, they use painting, drawing and sculpture to bind the contrasting experiences of childhood and adulthood, confronting their past within their future.

Araceli also uses their art practice as a tool to break down ignorance towards Latine people. They have
co-hosted social justice art workshops; make work that speaks on immigrant rights; and are a member
of two artist collectives: L.U.N.A (Latinxs Unidas eN Las Artes) and the Underbelly collective.

Their ultimate goals are to advocate for survivors of abuse, speak on social justice issues involving
Latine communities, and to one-day open an inclusive and safe community art space.
