Selva Aparicio's incredible debut solo museum exhibition, "In Memory Of," curated by , is on view through August 4. excavated her life and memories and transforms each of the museum's gallery spaces into a cinematic domestic setting. She creates each of her poignant sculptural installations using carefully collected living materials, seemingly suspended in a state between life and death, including her taxidermied cat, cicada wings, thorns, wasp nests, an entire wood floor from which she painstakingly carved out the rug in her childhood home.

Brava on your incredible exhibition! You are truly one of a kind, and I am so happy to see the space and have created for your enchanting work. 🌱✨

Magdalena Abakanowicz: Every Tangle of Thread and Rope, curated by Ann Coxon and Mary-Jane Jacob .

"In the 1960s and 70s, the Polish artist Magdalena Abakanowicz created radical sculptures from woven fibre. They were soft not hard; ambiguous and organic; towering works that hung from the ceiling and pioneered a new form of installation. They became known as the Abakans."

's thoughtful review of "Beyond Reach" is online ..
"Through Aparicio’s relationships with her donors, both human and insect alike, and Zamfirescu’s use of personal memories, the artists implore us to consider how our bodies come to interact with our world. They do this in a literal sense, but additionally, through the restraints of time and virtual space they cry out about the limitations the world violently places on our bodies. Though Zamfirescu’s body takes up virtual space, it is obscured, and though Aparicio’s donors live on in her works, their autonomy is obfuscated by time. In a world where virtual space is only becoming more abundant and our physical world arguably more precarious, the artists present the body as transformative, and as a vehicle for change." 📸credit: @ Roots & Culture
