ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY: 2007
The Midwest’s leading and most comprehensive LGBTQ community center – the 175,000 square foot CENTER ON HALSTED in Chicago, IL. – opened its doors for the first time. The COH provides a range of services and programs for over 1500 LGBTQ people every day – including youth, seniors, and the homeless – and serves as the home-base for numerous community organizations not large enough to have their own facility. Since the Legacy Project’s inception, the COH administration has generously made their facilities available to the Legacy Project for monthly meetings, periodic events, and regular education programming – free of charge. All Legacy Walk guided tours are staged out of the COH. We wish the COH and its entire staff a very Happy 19th Anniversary! Read more about at… http://www.centeronhalsted.org/cohoverview.html
