Happy Birthday to the iconic Euromast Rotterdam! 🎉🎂🎈🇳🇱
Opened in March 1960 and designed by architect Huig Maaskant, the Euromast was built for the Floriade, a famous world horticultural exhibition held every 10 years in the Netherlands. 🌷🌍 Originally 101 meters tall, it was later extended to its current height of 185 meters, making it the tallest observation tower in the Netherlands and a defining feature of Rotterdam’s iconic skyline.
Over the decades, the Euromast has welcomed visitors from around the world to experience breathtaking views stretching up to 30 km, whether from its observation decks or the rotating glass-floored Euroscoop!✨ From enjoying a meal high above the city to adrenaline-filled experiences like abseiling and rope sliding, it continues to offer something for everyone.
Today, as the tower undergoes a major renovation that started in January and is expected to last until April 2026 🏗️, this beloved landmark is being carefully prepared for the future.
Fun fact: Rotterdam’s mayor recently promised to abseil down the Euromast herself (despite a fear of heights!) if voter turnout increased! Talk about commitment! 😄👏
