Drawing and Sculpture ASM

Drawing and Sculpture ASM The primary objective is for the teen artists to leave the program having completed several finished pieces.

The goal of The Drawing & Sculpture Studio is to develop a group of trained, bright, creative & confident teens that exemplifies the critical skills to live, work & create. In the first project apprentices will select a character in motion, such as a dancer or athlete, then capture & describe its movements through pose, form & balance. Equipped with cutters & a spool of wire, apprentices will cut

& begin to shape the malleable material. They will translate previously designed sketches into three-dimensional wire forms. The product is a beautiful raw wire armature that can adapt to wherever it is placed. Apprentices will also collaboratively create 22" tall modern bronze painted figurines that are influenced by the renowned sculptor Alberto Giacometti. We will be making elongated, gaunt sculptures that are expressive in their minimalist form. They will be crafted from specialized self-hardening clay that is durable enough for indoor/outdoor display.
