Educator Candace and Curator Ross visited “Learning Together: Art Education and Community” at last month. In it, Candace found images from the Spiral Art Program she and her sister participated in as teenagers and reconnected with arts educator Olivia Gude.

Candace says, “’Learning Together’ is a must see for anyone who’s done an arts program, especially in Chicago. It’s so cool that my sister and I are a small piece of this long and incredible legacy.”

You can check out their exhibition and get to know Olivia Gude and other Chicago-based Educators at their talk and social hour “Threads and Legacies: Chicago’s Artist Educators and Their Networks” on October 3rd at 5:00pm. Learn more at the link in our bio.

We are pleased to finally announce... Hull-House Books!

Launching on September 6th, Hull-House Books celebrates the work of authors and artists who share the museum's mission to inspire civic action.

Residents of Hull-House and their neighbors used literature to build movements for social reform. Beginning with Ellen Gates Starr’s bookbindery and the Hull-House branch of the Chicago Public Library that opened in 1891, books have always been integral to education and empowerment. At Hull-House Books, readers can find histories of Hull-House—including what Jane Addams loved to read—alongside current publications that resonate with the settlement’s influence upon the worlds of art, education, food, literature, politics, and much more.
