Apprentice LAB is a free art mentoring program available to young Chicago artists. Five talented teens work in a professional art production business for 15 weeks, engaging in independent and group projects while building career readiness skills. Teens develop self-reliance and professional attitude

s through one-on-one instruction. Communication, leadership and time management techniques are demonstrated as teens explore their artwork in new ways. Open to all College & HS Students
5 Scholarships available per term
Classes 2x per week for 15 weeks
3 scholarship cycles per year

Apprentices are encouraged to explore on their own while learning hands on techniques from their instructor and other teens. The program concludes with the apprentices organizing, promoting and hosting a public exhibition of their work. Join a select community of talented Chicago teens!

Apprentice Munim Shah's 11" x 14" print of the Chicago River, Wrigley & Tribune buildings also sold during our recent silent auction. Dramatically lit, the Wrigley building without it's signature clock tower (and duplicated by the river's reflection) offers insight into some classic lines and details often overlooked in a skyline dominated by icons. This week and next week Apprentice LAB is holding interviews for the Spring 2015 term! We are encouraging all high school and college enrolled aspiring fine art photographers to apply for this exceptional opportunity. Read more about it here: http://apprenticelab.org/about-the-program

During this interview we'll review your portfolio (digital or print) and discuss what you hope to gain by participating in the 15 week term. Interviews will last 1 hour and will be scheduled per applicant at a time that works best for you. Contact us via Facebook or our website at http://apprenticelab.org/contact to schedule an interview. Feel free to ask questions in the comments!

Here are the program basics:

- Meetings will be 3 hrs long
- Meetings will be 2x per week
- Exact times of weekly meetings will be based on the schedules of accepted apprentices
- 5 apprentices will be accepted for the first term
- Spring 2015 term will begin in May and last 15 weeks
- The term will end in a public exhibition of artwork you create while enrolled
- The program is free
- All high school or college enrolled photographers interested in developing their portfolio and learning about the biz of professional fine art photography may apply

Today is the day! Our first exhibition and fundraiser at the Berghoff restaurant is tonight. Warm up with some artwork and a bevy of talented young artists tonight from 6-8p. The suggested donation is $30 - it includes appetizers, refreshments and participation in the silent auction of over 40 pieces of artwork. Hope to see you there!
