The gallery offers lectures by selected artists and curators working in the Midwest and Chicago. We strive to cultivate exploration and growth through exhibi

tions, workshops, artist lectures and educational programing that support Loyola's interdisciplinary ideology. We prioritize the unique position of the artist as educator, engaging and exposing our diverse educational community to every discipline of Art offered by the Fine Arts department. ‘Variable Spaces’ opens this Thursday, 5pm-7pm!

We are so excited to showcase the artwork of a selection of our Fine Arts Minors in this inaugural exhibition. We hope to see you there!

Opening Reception: Thursday, March 19, 5pm-7pm

‘Variable Spaces’ features recent artwork by students minoring in Fine Arts in their senior year at Loyola University Chicago. The contributions of the Fine Arts Minors allow our division to remain diverse, interdisciplinary, and ambitious. Participating student artists were nominated by lead faculty in each program within the Fine Arts Division, including Photography & Video Art, Ceramics & Sculpture, Visual Communication, and Drawing, Painting & Printmaking. The exhibition embodies the synergistic potential of the liberal arts experience, resulting in a passion for art, interdisciplinary thinking, and a commitment to intellectual curiosity. Artworks in the exhibition are unique examples of students bringing expertise from their major area of study into the creative spaces of the Fine Arts Division.

The Opening Reception will be held Thursday, March 19, 5pm-7pm and is open to the public. ‘Variable Spaces’ will run through April 11 with public viewing hours Saturdays, 12pm-3pm.

🦋🪞🦋 Join is at the gallery Thursday, Nov. 6 @ 6pm for the artist walkthrough with Flor Flores!

Moving through the exhibition with the artist, you’ll hear about the process behind the works and how Kiki, a q***r monarch butterfly, has guided their making. The walkthrough will weave in performative and sensorial elements— gestures, presence, and attention to the body —that connect directly to the exhibition’s themes of touch, transformation, and reflection.

This event is free and open to the public. All are welcome and we hope to see you there!

Our gallery interns had a wonderful time learning more about Flor’s practice while installing the exhibition.

We hope to see you this Thursday for a truly special, colorful, imaginative, and rhythmic presentation of Flor’s diverse bodies of new and recent work, including new works that have not been exhibited thus far. See you there!
