It has been studied for years that children who are encouraged to draw or pick up and learn an instrument or generally just be creative and express themselves thrive in school academically and socially. Chicago is at the front of the art movement in supporting local artists from Theater and Music to fashion and even Graffiti artists. The local artist and storefront owners. By putting art in the wi
ndows of these storefronts we create full on art galleries that benefit not only the artist and the property but the surrounding area, the neighborhood and The City of Chicago. WHOA WHOA WHOA...
That's not all. Art is so much more. Just like all those things listed above. Music, Fashion, Film, spoken word, installations and Public art. ALL THOSE FORMS OF ART can be part of "Out of the Loop" as well. We can have one night poetry readings or concerts or fashion shows that showcase local designers. And Installations would be one of the HUGEST and key components of this project. What are installations you ask??? Oh well let me explain... You ever go to an art museum or gallery and the exhibit is broken glass on the floor and somewhere there's a hidden speaker that is playing the sounds of rain and lightning and it's called "Crash..." That's an installation. It's not necessarily just about paintings but more about creations of art that encompass a space. Art that delights and questions and intrigues the senses. An "installation" is something that would be one of the fundamental aspects of my idea for this project and future non-profit company; "Out of the Loop." And what about the real estate? Everything "Out of the Loop" is about is positive. There will not be one negative aspect to the idea, the concept or the company. All around Chicago there are store fronts that have been empty for weeks, months and some of them for years. Chicago is based on Neighborhoods. We pride ourselves on what neighborhood we live in. North, South, East, West, Bucktown, Beverly, Old town, Jefferson Park, when you ask someone where they live in Chicago they tell you what hood. They don't say the streets, they say "Lincoln Square" And in every one of these 'hoods there are empty storefronts. It brings down the value of everything around them. "Out of the Loop" wants to bring the value back. Having art shows will do that by bringing beauty to the Storefront and the Neighborhood. Chicago is just the start...
That positive attitude transfers directly to the property and to the owner. It shows the functionality of the space. It brings art enthusiasts and potential clients/tenants/customers to the space. Being connected to "Out of the Loop" shows that the owners are open to exploring new and creative opportunities with their property. What better way to beautify a Chicago neighborhood than to brighten up one of it's dark spots with an innovative idea that is simply; "Out of the Loop."
