With the passing of Rev. Jesse Jackson (October 8, 1941 - February 17, 2026), the Haitian American Museum of Chicago (HAMOC) honors a profound leader who dedicated his life to civil rights justice and human dignity.

In 1996, Rev. Jackson founded the to fight for social change. Among his many accomplishments, he traveled to Haiti following the devastating 2010 earthquake to help mobilize aid and call for stronger coordination of relief efforts. He amplified Haitian voices, reminding the world that Haiti matters 🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹

The image featured here is a commemorative bag from Rev. Jackson’s 1984 presidential campaign. This was recently donated to and now a part of HAMOC’s permanent collection. May his legacy continue to inspire us all.
