What a great Spring session of . How lucky you were if you secured a ticket! Our sold-out classes led by co-founder Calcagno Cullen and Executive Director Boris Oicherman were packed with conversation and lots of Q&A.

is Wave Pool's ongoing series of professional development workshops that prepares artists to succeed in their career and artistic practice through skill-building exercises with guest speakers and professionals. This spring's two-part workshop focused on funding for artists, helping participants identify opportunities that match their goals and develop grant applications that clearly communicate purpose, budget, and outcomes.

Born out of the Cincinnati Artist Report conducted in 2019, was launched in 2020 in direct response to 📀 artists identifying their top needs — including funding, promotion, workspace, and community partnerships 📀. Since then, Wave Pool has been committed to delivering thoughtful and practical programming for artists.

Last reminder to apply to our Operations Coordinator (20 hours/week) position.
Application due May 17.

The Operations Coordinator provides operational and administrative support to staff, leadership, and the Board of Directors. The role requires a highly organized person who can manage a range of tasks at once, from financial record-keeping to board governance and events coordination. The Operations Coordinator maintains organizational financial records — data entry, invoicing, reconciliation, expense tracking, and basic reports, and supports fiscal sponsorship coordination, including agreements, payments, and record-keeping. This work will be central to Wave Pool's growing fiscal sponsorship activity. Additional responsibilities include communications coordination, mailing list maintenance, day-to-day office functions and correspondence, records in nonprofit management software, grant and donor tracking, and other administrative projects as assigned.
The Operations Coordinator supports senior staff and the Board of Directors by scheduling and coordinating meetings, compiling and distributing board dockets and meeting materials in advance, recording and distributing minutes, and serving as a point of contact between board members and staff.
The position is structured as part-time at start, with the intention of growing to full-time over the course of 2027 as organizational resources allow. It reports to the Executive and Artistic Director.

🎨 SATURDAY CERAMICS 🏺

Our popular Creativity and Community ceramics classes are every Saturday in Wave Pool’s Wood Shop, where people learn hand-building techniques and share our progress with others.

We have all of the tools, brushes, glazes, clay, and kilns needed to make your very own hand-built creations! Classes are geared towards adult instruction but are beginner friendly.

📍Want to join? Visit Wave Pool's Wood Shop every Saturday from 10AM-12PM. Donations are on a sliding scale basis and are very appreciated.

Join us on Monday evenings this season as we explore introductory woodworking tools and techniques with specialist Scottie Bellissemo.Gain confidence, use the right tools, and start building!
This class is designed for beginning woodworkers to get in the wood shop and learn how to safely operate a variety of power tools including the table saw, chop saw, band saw, drill press, planer, and joiner. The class will also go over some basic hand tool techniques and cover some basic joinery, shaping, sanding, and finishing procedures. Each participant will work to create a finished end grain cutting board by the end of the course. Class size is small (maximum of 4), with ample time and space for individualized lessons and attention. Wood shop membership is not included. In order to become a wood shop member participants must complete Intro and Intermediate classes or undergo a two hour certification class to prove experience.

* (NO CLASS MAY 25 for MEMORIAL DAY) Participants should expect to spend $25 on materials outside of the class registration fee.

🔨 Intermediate Woodworking Keepsake / Jewelry Box 📿

Join us Wedsday evenings as you step up your woodworking game to create a keepsake/jewelry box with specialist Scottie Bellissemo.

Take your woodworking to the next level!

In this intermediate class we will learn how to make a box from wood of your choice. We will be using the planer and jointer in processing all the wood and the table saw for rip cuts and cross cuts of all pieces. Students will learn how to make finger/box joints by hand and with the bandsaw. The handles will be cut out using the bandsaw. There will be plenty of opportunities to make yours unique using the router for the edges of the lid and bottom and in your choosing of wood. I look forward to seeing you all back in class again. Wood will need to be bought before class. Those who sign up will be given an email a week before class describing how much board foot will be need for this project. It will be minimal as the structure is not that large. We will be using all the major power tools experienced in the beginners class as well as some opportunities for some hand cut joints. The cost of the class is $325. Students should expect to spend an extra $25-$50 on materials.

*You must have already taken Intro to Woodworking to participate in Intermediate Woodworking*
