Many people don't know that famed mid-century architectural photographer, Julius Shulman was very active in the Pomona Valley where he photographed over 40 projects designed by Criley/ McDowell, Richard Neutra, Edward Durell Stone and many others.

Narrated by Dustin Hoffman, VISUAL ACOUSTICS celebrates the life and career of Julius Shulman, the world s greatest architectural photographer, whose images brought modern architecture to the American mainstream. Shulman captured the work of nearly every major modern and progressive architect since the 1930s including Frank Lloyd Wright, Richard Neutra, John Lautner and Frank Gehry. His images epitomized the singular beauty of Southern California s modernist movement and brought its iconic structures to the attention of the general public. This unique film is both a testament to the evolution of modern architecture and a joyful portrait of the magnetic, whip-smart gentleman who chronicled it with his unforgettable images. Run Time: 80 minutes

All funds raised from this auction will support our programs such as the Third Grade History Program, Speaker and Film Series, Exhibitions, and preserving the history of Claremont!

Artwork will be available to view in-person at our Ginger Elliott Gallery (enter via Garner House), Monday - Friday | 10 AM - 3 PM. Please schedule an appointment to view by calling our office at (909) 621-0848.

The Garner House Centennial Exhibit is now open!

Explore the Garner House's evolution over the last century. Featured in this exhibit are historical artifacts from the Garner House (including original furniture), paintings of the interior, images of the home's restoration, and much more.

This exhibit will run until Wednesday, June 3, 2026. If you are interested in viewing this exhibit, please schedule a time to view the Garner House (840 N Indian Hill Blvd.) by calling (909) 621-0848 anytime from Monday-Friday, 10 AM-3 PM.

Dancing Into the Past:

Claremont Heritage archivists Sarah Mackey and Carina Arias recently uncovered black and white photographs from 1934 and 1935 of the Padua Hills Theatre performers staying at the Garner House.

While the courtyard has undergone various changes throughout the years, these photographs reflect the original character of the exterior: a water feature, natural stone deck, and extended staircase. The Claremont Heritage Archives Vortox Collection also includes various photographs of the house that indicate the courtyard was used as a gathering and performance area, with dancers in traditional Mexican attire and occasionally instruments.

We are excited to announce that Alba Cisneros will be hosting another mosaic workshop at our Ginger Elliott Gallery!

Raised in Claremont, Alba has been creating artwork since her elementary school days. She attended Sycamore Elementary School and then Pitzer College in the 70s. Alba worked with Millard Sheets and Associates Designs for 17 years and currently serves as a self-employed artist for Land Design in Pomona.

We are excited to announce our upcoming events celebrating the Garner House's 100th Anniversary! 🏡 🎉

On Thursday, May 14, 2026, a rededication ceremony for the Garner House will be held in association with the City of Claremont and the Chamber of Commerce. This will take place from 5-6 PM in front of the Garner House (840 N Indian Hill Blvd).

Following the rededication ceremony, the opening reception for the Garner House exhibition will be taking place in the Ginger Elliott Gallery (Adjacent from Garner House) from 6-8 PM. Admission is free!
