Lorenzo Swinton’s most recent new body of work marks a profound shift toward what he describes as “spiritual works”, a familiar artistic revisitation and expansion of earlier approaches. Within these compositions, the artist explores the intersection of faith, intuition, and transformation, positioning creation itself as both a devotional act and a form of revelation. Each piece operates as a visual meditation, and an exploration of how guidance, surrender, and uncertainty has shaped his artistic and spiritual evolution. Through these gestures, Swinton constructs a visual theology, where form and texture embody questions of belief, purpose, and human condition.
In what he calls the “Seasons of Instruction,” Swinton has moved forward in faith without fear; serving, encouraging, and inspiring through divine blessings. Over the past two years, he has embraced the beauty found within sacrifice and following each instruction placed before him while experiencing tests throughout. These experiences reveal that within the unfamiliar paths of the unknown, the greatest blessings often emerge. These self-reflective lenses and senses of obedience and trust are not passive but rather an active creative force that informs his evolving practice.
The works presented are at once deeply primordial, personal, broadly human, and questionably prophetic; expressions of vulnerability, honesty, and love above all else. They chronicle a journey marked by continual improvement of grace and growth, suggesting that transformations are inseparable from loss and renewal. Swinton’s visual language reflects the cyclical nature of spiritual and creative rebirth, reminding the audience that for new life to take root, certain things must be allowed to perish.
