This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. 🇺🇸

At the Thousand Islands Arts Center, we are honored to celebrate America’s spirit through creativity and community. Upon the grand opening of our new building, our Weave Across America project — featuring woven pieces representing the American flag — will be proudly displayed in the Sonja Wahl Weaving Gallery as part of our celebration of 250 years of America.

We invite you to stop in, experience this meaningful exhibition, and celebrate with us. Veterans will also receive a special takeaway as a small token of our appreciation for their service and sacrifice. ❤️

We are incredibly thankful to the amazing members of the Syracuse Weavers Guild for making the trip to Clayton to help pack up the library for our big move. Their time, energy, and support mean so much to us, and we truly couldn’t do this transition without wonderful volunteers like them!

The new facility is continuing to come together — shelving is officially installed, more furniture will be arriving over the next two weeks, and every day the space feels closer to completion. We can’t wait to share this exciting new chapter with all of you! 🎉

We were honored to welcome handweavers, textile scholars, and educators from seven states to Clayton this May for our annual “Archive Raiders” retreat at the Thousand Islands Arts Center ~ Home of the Handweaving Museum.

Throughout the retreat, participants explored our textile archives, analyzed historic fabrics, researched works for our upcoming Weave Across America exhibition, and helped preserve important weaving resources for future generations. The weavers also made stops around Clayton, including lunch at Wood Boat Brewery and trivia night at O'Brien's Restaurant.

We are incredibly grateful for their passion, knowledge, and dedication to preserving and celebrating the rich history of handweaving. ✨
