SEEEEE! I told you it would be a fun day at the museum! Freshly pressed apple cider, delicious yummy sugary donuts holes, great music by "The Over the Hill Brass Band", And we had a great crowd, in spite of the gloomy, rain showers off and on all afternoon. Aren't you sorry, now, that you missed it? Please, aside from my bit of scolding, plan to come out and visit Kinney Pioneer Museum in 2018. The museum opens for the 2018 season on May 1, and the first Sunday in May will be our Pork Bar-B-Que. In June, will be Vintage Car Day, July will be the Olde Fashion Ice Cream Social, August is Kids Day, and late September it will be time, again, for that Fresh Apple Cider and Homemade Donuts. I will be posting the dates soon. Also, since 2018 will be the 50th Anniversary of Kinney Pioneer Museum, we are Pursuing some ideas about another special day to celebrate that anniversary. So mark your calendars and come on out, ya hear!

As summer slips away, kids go back to, or begin school in late August or early September, sometimes a pleasant outing, a cup of fresh, warm apple cider, and a fresh, sweet, warm donut hole and some good music is hard to let slip by. On Sunday October 1, Pioneer Museum offers that very thing! We press fresh apple cider in a 150 year old press, and make delicious donut holes smothered with sugar and cinnamon, in the museum. This year we have arranged for some special entertainment to go with the treats. The "Over the Hill Brass Band" will be on hand to share their music with everyone. An apple inspired bake sale will be on site so you can take an apple treat home with you. Demonstrations of many skills from long ago will also be available in the museum. See broom making, black smithing, bob for apples, making apple butter at the log cabin, weaving on the loom, just to mention a few. This is an event you won't want to miss, as this will be our closing day for the 2017 season.

A beautiful, warm, summer day, lots of visitors, good help from the younger visitors in helping to make the DELICIOUS homemade Ice Cream in the museum. The cakes and bars were pretty darn good, too! Many, many people from near and far (England for one), and amazing, again, it was surprising how many people said they had never been to the museum and how much they enjoyed the many things to see, and of course, how good that homemade ice cream and cake were. This little cutie, was, along with several other youngsters, a great help in freezing one of the batches of ice cream in an old hand crank freezer.
