The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office regretfully announces the passing of Chaplain David Murdoch.

Chaplain Murdoch faithfully oversaw the Sheriff’s Office Chaplain Corps, a dedicated group of all-volunteer religious leaders who selflessly offered their time, compassion, and presence to citizens during moments of crisis, grief, and loss. His calling extended far beyond organizational leadership—David was a steady and comforting presence not only for those we serve, but also for the men and women of the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

Through countless conversations, prayers, and quiet moments, Chaplain Murdoch provided counsel, encouragement, and spiritual guidance. He walked alongside our staff during some of the most difficult moments of their careers, offering wisdom, grace, and unwavering support. His impact was deeply personal and profoundly lasting.

Early this morning, Chaplain Murdoch completed his earthly work. While we grieve his loss, we are grateful for a life lived in service, compassion, and faith. David was a true inspiration, and his legacy will continue to be felt throughout our agency and community.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office respectfully asks for your prayers as we mourn the loss of our friend and Chaplain. We also ask for prayers for his family as they navigate life without David—a husband, family member, and servant whose heart touched so many.

Rest easy, Chaplain Murdoch. Your watch is complete.

In 1926, Miss Jessie Jim of Chelan was honored by the Blackfeet Nation of Montana, a powerful moment of unity and respect among Nations. Her recognition symbolizes the bonds that connect Indigenous peoples through shared history, ceremony, and pride. Her smile reflects not just personal honor but the strength of cultural kinship that continues to shine today. 🌄❤️
