Now THIS is dedication to a good time โ a midnight walk of about 10 miles from Wickliffe, Ohio to Cleveland's Little Italy for Mardi Gras in 1925! What a fantastic piece of local Italian American history.๐ฎ๐น๐ฎ๐น
In 1925, a group of fun-loving men from Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church had been celebrating Mardi Gras when they decided to memorialize the event by visiting Little Italy in Cleveland.
The 21 men left Wickliffe at midnight and walked to Murray Hill, arriving at 6:00am. They persuaded a photographer to open early and take a photo. Lacking Mardi Gras costumes, creative improvisation was necessary.
Two hours later they returned to Wickliffe by vehicle.
