Annual Memorial Day Observance May 25. Memorial Day is more than a long weekend. It is a day set aside to remember those who gave their lives in military service to our country. Before the picnics and holiday plans begin, we hope the community will consider spending a half-hour in remembrance.

Late winter is a season of reflection—and of preparing for what comes next. As the Historical Society works toward its new home, we remain committed to preserving the stories and memories of Old Brooklyn. If this place has been part of your life, we invite you to support that mission.
Because of you, this history will continue.

Winter can feel long in Northeast Ohio, which makes March a perfect time for an indoor escape that still connects us to the outdoors. Let's step back and look at the natural world that has always shaped our region — often in the most unexpected places.

❤️ Love Where You’re From ❤️

This Valentine’s season, we’re celebrating all the ways people show love—not just to each other, but to the places that shaped them. If Old Brooklyn is part of your story, please consider supporting the Historical Society as we work toward a new home and a new chapter.

Because of you, Old Brooklyn’s story continues.

As we gathered around our Thanksgiving tables, we were reminded how deeply “having a place” matters. The Historical Society is between homes right now, but our mission remains rooted in the community. If you’re grateful for the stories, people, and places that shaped Old Brooklyn, please consider helping us create a new home for them this season with a gift of support.

Please note that the HSOB Museum at 3430 Memphis Avenue is now closed. We'll announce our new location soon, but it will be several weeks before necessary modifications are completed and the move-in process begins.

This week, the full Senate may begin consideration of an appropriations bill that contains funding for the Institute of Museum and Library Services for FY26. It is urgent that you contact your members of Congress and urge them to keep robust IMLS Office of Museum Services funding levels in the bill and to include additional safeguards to prevent the Trump administration from cutting appropriated funds. Contact Congress at congressweb.com/aam/84.
