The work of Brigette Neil as part of our show “The View From Here” opening March 5th, 2026.

We live by messages – all true scientists, all lovers of the arts, indeed, all true men of any stamp. Some of the messages cannot be read, but man will always try. He hungers for messages, and when he ceases to seek and interpret them he will no longer be man.

Loren Eiseley, The Unexpected Universe

Currently, my work is inspired by the feeling that a sense of mystery is slowly disappearing from our modern world.
I believe art, in most forms, carries a wish to protect a deep-rooted, universal desire to preserve some mystery in the world. A mystery that is under constant erosion by the unceasing march of technological development and the human urge to explain, to fill in our “map” with facts, formulas, and details. But if the magical is being squeezed out of our cartography, it sneaks back in through our folklore and arts.
My work is about using images and objects to create a world where the viewer can be curious and can stop to consider the supernatural qualities of everyday life. For me, making art is a way to foster hope that the world may never be fully known and will always have its mysteries.

Brigette Neal has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Wayne State University, Detroit, MI.
