José Guadalupe Posada, a Mexican caricaturist, created La Catrina as political satire in 1910 ... In 1947 muralist Diego Rivera painted this character with an elegant outfit and christening her "La Catrina" for his mural "DREAM OF A SUNDAY AFTERNOON IN THE ALAMEDA CENTRAL".
Today "She" is the Mexican icon, most closely associated with "Day of the Dead" / Dia de los Mu***os (November 1st & 2nd)
