📢 Step back in time this Saturday at Preservation Long Island’s Custom House in Sag Harbor for a special Long Island 250th event celebrating the American Revolution and the 250th anniversary of the United States!

This event is FREE and open to the public — no advance registration required.

✂️ Get your own silhouette portrait, crafted by hand using only scissors.
🔥Watch colonial historic hearth cooking demonstrations by a local food historian
🪵 View traditional woodworking demonstrations led by regional artisans
🎶 Enjoy live 18th-century music performances throughout the day

We have partnered with the Sag Harbor Historical Museum to host these activities at the 18th-century Custom House, which will be open for self-guided tours.

Bring your Suffolk County 250th Passport Book to receive a commemorative Custom House stamp—one of the featured Long Island historic sites in the Passport Book.

While you’re in the village, be sure to visit the Sag Harbor Whaling & Historical Museum across the street to experience an 18th-century Continental Army encampment and reenactments of the 1777 Meigs Raid (also known as the Battle of Sag Harbor), when Long Island patriots fought back British troops.

From Abraham Lincoln to lesser-known figures like Lemuel Haynes and Ephraim Niles Byram, discover how creativity and innovation shaped America’s past.
