Join us on June 12th to welcome 's exhibition, A Sense of Place, into our gallery!

Deanna Dikeman (b. 1954) is a Missouri-based photographer who has spent decades training her camera on the people and places closest to her. A former Columbia resident and recipient of the Guggenheim Fellowship, her work has been featured in The New Yorker, British Journal of Photography, and Vanity Fair, and has been exhibited widely across Europe and the United States. Deanna Dikeman: A Sense of Place brings her work back to Columbia, presenting her most celebrated series alongside new work in a thematic exploration of place.

This exhibition explores the role of home across four bodies of work. Her critically acclaimed Leaving and Waving and Relative Moments examine family bonds and domestic life, while Sue's House explores how homes hold presence even after death. In her most recent series, and Donna's House—presented here for the first time — follows a friend through the difficult process of leaving her home. Through Dikeman’s lens, the ordinary becomes a meditation on family, loss, and the places we call home. For more info: https://maa.missouri.edu/exhibitions/deanna-dikeman-sense-place

Congratulations, Class of 2026! As you leave this campus behind, may you continue to seek knowledge, ask thoughtful questions, and engage with the world with empathy and purpose. We are proud to celebrate all that you have accomplished and look forward to all that lies ahead!

This photo was taken by Dudley M. Brooks at one of the oldest historically Black colleges, Morgan State University in 1995. It's a part of the larger series, Songs of My People, whose goal was to open a revelatory window to a world of pulsing blackness with photographs of African-American culture.

This piece by Blooms & Wishes team received the Committee's Choice award during the Art in Bloom exhibition!

When asked about why Daniel Garber's River Bank was selected as the inspiration, the artists said, "It was love at first sight after being drawn in by the lightness and whimsy of the painting. The color palette and the visibility of the brushstrokes is what drew me to the painting. With Blooms & Wishes, we like to keep things light and airy with a little touch of whimsy, which I feel pairs perfectly with this work of art."
