Rain Embuscado (b. 1991, U.S.A.) (he/him) is a born-and-raised American artist and scholar pursuing dual graduate degrees (M.A., Journalism, and M.F.A., Visual Studies) at the University of Missouri–Columbia. Embuscado previously earned a B.A., Studio Art & Political Science from Hunter College of the City University of New York. Embuscado has contributed arts and culture reporting to various local, national, and international publications including Artnet News, The Art Newspaper, The Seattle Times, New York Magazine, HuffPost, and Hyperallergic(among others). Embuscado has presented award-winning research at academic conferences and guest lectured at cultural institutions including the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communications (AEJMC), Charlotte Street Foundation, the New Museum of Contemporary Art, and Sarah Lawrence College.

This exhibit shines bright and proud. It's about community, creativity, and celebrating the spaces where we all belong.

The Montminy is honored to present this opportunity for LGBTQ+ artists in our region to share artwork that reflects their personal perspectives and lived experiences.

Please join us in celebrating this meaningful and powerful exhibit on Thursday, November 13 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at the The Montminy Gallery inside the Boone County History & Culture Center.
