of Engineers, Mobile District.

TENNESSEE-TOMBIGBEE WATERWAY

THAD COCHRAN LOCK AND DAM
AMORY, MS
RIVER MILE 371.1

Due to a recent bearing failure in the upper land-wall sector gear at Thad Cochran Lock, the facility will be open to traffic during scheduled daylight hours only beginning Monday, 19-FEB-2024. The reduced schedule is projected to last thru Wednesday, 21-FEB-2024. The pre-scheduled times for lockages will be 0800, 1200, and 1600 hours.

Beginning Thursday, 22-FEB-2024, the lock will temporarily shut down to replace the necessary components. This closure is expected to last approximately three to five days. For updates on the ongoing work or to schedule a lockage, mariners may reach out to the lock via marine radio on channel 16 or telephone at 662-256-4051. A follow-up notice to navigation will be published once repairs are complete and the lock returns to normal operating schedule.

BLACK WARRIOR WATERWAY, ALABAMA

RIVER CLOSURE - RM 360 TO BANKHEAD LOCK & DAM

Notice is given to mariners that the Black Warrior River will be closed to all navigation from River Mile 360 to the Bankhead Lock & Dam until further notice. A small plane has collided with Alabama Power High Tension lines creating a channel obstruction. Emergency responders are responding via boat and land. A follow-up notice to navigation will be issued once more information becomes available.

ALICEVILLE POOL NEAR AL ST HWY 17 BRIDGE CROSSING (RIVER MILE 292.7)

Brightspeed Communications will be working on overhead fiber optic cables just north of the Alabama State Highway 17 Bridge at river mile 292.7. The work will take place on Monday, November 27, 2023, from 0800 to approximately 1800. Mariners are urged to exercise caution when transiting the area.

Notice is given to mariners that Cooper Marines M/V Crimson White II is aground at river mile 197. Parker Marine has a vessel in route to assist. DREDGE WORK, RIVER MILE 20, ABERDEEN WRECK BAR
Inland Dredging Company’s DREDGE AMERICA is mobilizing to river mile 20 (Aberdeen
Wreck Bar) to setup and begin dredging operations. The dredge will utilize floating pipelines and
will dispose of material within banks adjacent to and downstream of the dredge plant. The dredge
will work 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, and operations are estimated to last for
approximately 10 days.

DREDGE WORK, RIVER MILE 72, CLAIBORNE LOCK
Inland Dredging Company’s DREDGE RANGER is mobilizing to river mile 72 (Claiborne
Lock) to setup and begin dredging operations. The dredge will utilize floating pipelines and will
dispose of material within banks adjacent to the dredge plant. The dredge will work 24 hours per
day, 7 days per week, and operations are estimated to last for approximately 20 days.
The dredge will monitor VHF Channel 16 and traffic is requested to notify the dredge
prior to approaching and to transit the area with caution at no wake speed.
