Submit your application to be the next Artist in Residence at the Fran Ryan Center!

Selected artists receive:
• $2000 stipend
• Two free classes at the Fran Ryan Center
• Dedicated studio space inside this brand new facility amongst a community of artists and educators.

Submissions accepted until 11:59pm on September 11, 2026.

• Applicants must be age 50 or older.
• All mediums considered; visual and performing arts, writers, musicians.
• Residency dates are:
January 4, 2027 - April 24, 2027.

We're so excited to welcome our new Artists-in-Residence!

Ursula Scheuer (b. 1992, Cloquet, MN) creates artwork within an evolving, spiritual philosophy that is informed by nature, breath, and identity. When she starts thinking too fast, she notices the jewelweed on her morning walk, and when she notices the jewelweed on her morning walk, she returns home....

The elevator at the Priscilla R. Tyson Cultural Arts Center is currently out of service. We work to find a solution as quickly as possible. For the time being, the stairs are the only way to reach many of our studio classes. We will share more updates as we learn more.

We are proud to announce our next two Artists-in-Residence at the Priscilla R. Tyson Cultural Arts Center!

Our jurors combed through many talented, qualified, and impressive artists before deciding on two individuals whose work and mission stood out.

Please join us in welcoming Ursula Scheuer (Ursula Scheuer) and Arris Cohen (Arris' J. Cohen) to the CAC Artist-in-Residency family.

Ursula will be with us from September - December, 2026

While Arris will join us from February - June, 2027

Each artist brings a community-focused vision to their residency and an undoubtedly unique perspective from their art-making capabilities. We are excited and grateful to welcome these two deserving artists time, space, and resources to realize their vision and help us further ours.
