Woody Blackwell's carvings convey a powerful sense of life and movement. Beautifully bridging the gap between folk art tradition and modern minimalism, they strip wildlife down to it's core essence -energy, texture and form. The result is pieces that feel both incredibly grounded in nature and elegantly sophisticated.
Stop by the gallery to view these late additions to his exhibition. We're open today and Friday 12-5 and Saturday and Sunday 1-5.

Debra Lapatina's large scale abstractions exhibit a powerful tension between structure and chaos. Sharply defined lines and shapes fight for space alongside loose, gestural brushstrokes. This energy carries through to her smaller works, beautifully capturing the feeling of internal noise, psychological processing, and the ultimate, beautiful breakthrough of self-expression.
Stop in the gallery to view Debra's work. We're open this
Thursday and Friday 12-5 and Saturday and Sunday 1-5.

People often ask me, what is folk art?

For a long time, we acted like we had a clear answer. We’d point to carved figures, stitched quilts, painted barns, and say, “That’s it.” Artists without formal training, working outside the traditional art world. But the more time I spend with this work, the more I realize the labels don’t hold very well.

To me, folk art is shaped by circumstance; by their surroundings, their job, the tools within reach, the stories they grew up with. These artists didn’t so much follow tradition as adapt it, bend it, make it their own.

Maybe folk art isn’t a category at all. Maybe it’s more of a way of seeing and making. Something that doesn’t fit neatly in a box.

That’s what keeps me coming back.

We’re marking our first anniversary in the new gallery with a special two person show featuring Debra Lapatina and Woody Blackwell, opening April 17.

Their work shares a deep sense of material curiosity and emotional resonance, Debra through her layered surfaces, and Woody through his bold, sculptural forms. Bringing them together feels like the perfect way to celebrate how far we’ve come and the community that’s grown with us this past year.

Join us as we toast one year in the new space and the artists who continue to shape its spirit, alongside our neighbors Brandt and Chaos Contemporary galleries.
