✨Artist Spotlight: Ina Qirushi✨
Ina Qirushi is a costume designer and visual artist based in Maine, working across theater, painting, and illustration. Her creative practice is rooted in storytelling—whether expressed through fabric and form on stage or line and color on the canvas.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Costume and Set Design, following earlier formal training in fine art at a professional art school. This combined foundation in design and classical visual arts informs her interdisciplinary approach, uniting technical precision with intuitive expression.
As a designer, Ina explores the relationship between the human body and its environment. Through costume, makeup, masks, and accessories, she constructs visual narratives that bring characters to life. Her designs are expressive, intentional, and deeply attuned to the emotional core of each production.
Ina’s painting practice is more introspective—a space where internal landscapes emerge. Her abstract, non-representational works draw inspiration from nature, memory, and emotion. Gestural marks and organic forms evoke something familiar yet remain open to interpretation, balancing control and spontaneity.
Working one painting at a time, she surrounds herself with her works-in-progress, allowing dialogue between past and present pieces to guide her process. This rhythm keeps her grounded in the moment while connected to a larger creative evolution.
At the heart of her work—on stage or in the studio—is a fascination with imperfection, transformation, and the beauty of the unconventional. Ina views art as reflection: of herself, the world around her, and the unseen threads that connect the two.
