For those of you who've been to our ReStore - (and who hasn't been to our ReStore?), you know its not a "typical" store. At its foundation, its a Thrift Store whose sales go directly towards funding our Habitat Home Builds. Also, the vast majority of what's sold at the ReStore comes from donations of goods and items from individuals, community groups and businesses in the area. And, by the way it looks, you may think it resembles a chicken house...and you'd be correct in thinking that. But, there's history and a great story about how many came together - through their generosity, civic mindedness, passion for strengthening their community and desire to help others, and transformed an unused chicken house into a building with a Mission driven purpose...Habitat of NE GA's ReStore. Finally, here is a great article from The Northeast Georgian , (October 16th, 1990), about our ReStore's early beginnings. And for more information about our ReStore, please visit: https://habitatnega.org/the-restore/

Join us for the organ restoration dedication. The organ was restored by the men and women of Standard Telephone Company (D. Stewart Swanson) in loving memory of Mr. Henry and Ms. Clara Davis of Clarkesville.

This event celebrates the rich history of Deas Chapel - originally an African Methodist Episcopal congregation.

Standard Telephone Company is LIVE on DLG!

"The Digital Library of Georgia has gone live with the first ‘digitized' archives of STC. Below is the web site. First, We will always be beholden to the ‘physical’ artifacts from STC and do what we can to preserve, share and display them in relevant ways. Now we release the creation of ‘digital twins’ of the physical artifacts that will reside in perpetuity at the Digital Library of Georgia and also the Digital Library of America. Anyone in the world with an interest in STC now has online access to the digital twins in essence creating a ‘digital STC museum'. These digital twins include the original STC charter, representative phone books from 1939-1999, A Vivid and Compelling Dream, Arms Across Ga, the Henry Davis Building, histograms, etc." --- Stewart Swanson

Telephone books, newsletters, and day-to-day records provide insight into the local practices of Standard Telephone Company and its leadership in hiring policies throughout the twentieth century.
