This piece is an exploration of the beauty found in the deep. The restoration began with an ornate vintage frame, finished in a matte midnight black to represent the abyss. I then hand-detailed the intricate carvings with an iridescent cobalt blue, mimicking the way light hits the water. To break the barrier between the art and the viewer, 3D elements—including a large scallop shell, a conch, and a seahorse—have been finished in a brilliant antique copper and mounted directly to the frame. The result is a tactile, dimensional tribute to the myth of the siren. It is a piece that feels as though it was pulled directly from a shipwreck and polished for display."
