We are always thrilled to have Belinda Rocha join us at Studio C! She is a local entrepreneur running a small, home-based business, Bel’s Art Studio, creating one-of-a-kind, handmade jewelry as well as original multimedia artwork, all thoughtfully made with love.

Belinda opened my business in October 2018. Her mosaic collection, which she is featuring at Studio C Gallery, is all handcrafted, original designs, and each piece is exclusively created with clay, colorful micro-ceramic tiles, beads, charms, along with other embellishments.

Amy Lancaster decided to explore my true love of the arts after moving to Texas many years ago now. She fell in love with ceramics in 2013.

Most of my creations are inspired by the ocean and sea life. Mother Nature inspires Amy with her beauty. Layering blues, amber, and white to create movement and motion. A signature piece she create is a wave pattern made with multiple applications of blue glaze. Many pieces are functional and dinnerware safe. Each piece is thrown or built with love.

Do you love beautiful leather work?

Studio C now has a wonderful collection of hand-tooled leatherworks by Jo Keith! Most of her works are vegetable-tanned leather (vegtan) that can be tooled or dyed.

The designs you see in these items are traced onto the leather. Then Jo uses various tools to cut and stamp the designs into the leather. This is usually the most time-consuming part of leather work. Just one tap of the wrong tool or in the wrong place can mean that I have to start all over.

Once it’s the way I want it to be, Jo dyes the leather. There are many different types and colors of dyes and methods of applying that dye—with a sponge for a solid color, with multiple colors to create some depth, or even using shaving cream for a tie-dyed look!

Then it’s time to assemble the project. All the assembly is done by hand, including the sewing and lacing.

Mixed media artist Nora Verdin is back in Studio C and has a wonderful, colorful collection that is a reflection of her love for folk art. She especially enjoys Mexican Folk Art with its bright color palette and bold patterns. You'll find her love for small “intimate” art that people can place on shelves or in small niches.
