The Friends of the Bridal House will not host an open house in September, but will have a special presentation of "If These Logs Could Talk" on Sunday, September 20th at 2:00. Meet Geoff Baggett, historical researcher and author, with a passion for the Rev War period. You will greatly enjoy his "Revolutionary War in a Trunk" presentation. Along with Geoff, Andrew Scott Wills, singer and songwriter, will present music from the period. Also David Wright (painter of our American history), and friends will have guns, pistols, powder horns, and other accoutrements of the Rev War period on display. Admission for this special presentation will be $10.00 for non-members 12+ and $5.00 for members. Please join us at the Bridal House at 2315 Highway 25 W in Cottontown to celebrate our America 250!

Our next "If These Logs Could Talk" presentation will be held on Sunday, August 23rd at 2:00 at the Bridal House. The subject will be James Robertson (1742-1814), frontiersman, soldier, and founding father of Nashville. Rob McDonald who has produced a documentary on this subject will be the presenter. Admission is $5.00 for visitors 12+ and free to members of the Friends of the Bridal House. The program will be held in the air-conditioned meeting room. Our next "If These Logs Could Talk" presentations will take place on Sunday, July 26th at 2:00. Debra Maggart, Regent of the General Jethro Sumner DAR chapter and Friends of the Bridal House board member, will share the incredible story of Mary Draper Ingles, her 6th great grandmother, captured by the Shawnee Indians in 1755 and her escape and perilous 800-mile journey home. The address for the Historic Bridal House is 2315 Highway 25 W in Cottontown, TN. Admission fee is $5.00 for ages 12+ and free to members of the Friends of the Bridal House. The presentation is held in the air-conditioned meeting room.

The Bridal House will be open on Saturday, July 11th from 10-3 for tours. We hope you will plan to visit us. As usual the tours are free and the house has a great air conditioner! The address is 2315 Highway 25 West in Cottontown. We will also have a booth at the "Let Freedom Ring" America 250! event on the Gallatin Square.

Today during our open house we were thrilled to have an installation of a Little Library on the Bridal House property. It was established by Kellie Taylor of the Safe Harbor Standardbreds, a non-profit, all-volunteer network of foster farms in middle Tennessee and south central Kentucky that is dedicated to transitioning retired racehorses into new careers and forever homes. The library will be stocked with horse-themed books and classic children's literature. The Little Library was painted by Kellie and I know we have the most beautiful Little Library in the state! Come check it out. I am sure your children will enjoy it. The address is 2315 Highway 25 West.
