Through the powerful photography of Julia Cumes and the creative collaboration of Lipe Borges, the remarkable exhibition "Invisible Threads: Portraits and Stories from our Global Neighbors" celebrates members of Cape Cod's global community, sharing personal stories of identity, belonging, resilience, and hope.

What makes the project especially compelling is the collaborative process. Participants help shape how they are photographed, choosing details such as clothing, settings, meaningful personal objects, and how they wish to present themselves.

Their accompanying stories come from extensive interviews, allowing visitors to hear directly from the individuals portrayed.

Don't miss this powerful exhibition at the Cahoon Museum of American Art.

The museum is open Wednesday - Sunday, 10am-4pm. www.cahoonmuseum.org for tickets and more information.

Hendricks A. Hallett was born in Charlestown, Massachusetts, on July 20, 1847. He studied painting in Antwerp and Paris before launching his professional career in Boston.

He became known for his marine paintings, especially views of Boston Harbor, the Massachusetts coast, and Mount Desert Island in Maine.

Hallett was a member of the Boston Art Club and the Boston Society of Watercolor Painters. He exhibited widely throughout New England, including at the Boston Art Club starting in 1877. His paintings were noted for their atmospheric qualities, maritime detail, and sensitive treatment of light.

"Ships at Anchor in Boston Harbor" is a wonderful example of a traditional marine painting, featuring an atmospheric sky, beautifully reflected light, and carefully arranged sailing vessels.

What particularly catches the eye is the contrast between the dark sails of the vessel in the foreground and the luminous white sails of the boat on the left. The distant steamship adds another layer of interest, suggesting a period when sailing vessels and steam-powered ships shared the harbor.

See this incredible work now on view at the Cahoon Museum of American Art.

The museum is open Wednesday - Sunday, 10am-4pm. www.cahoonmuseum.org for tickets and more information.

In Topless Swimsuits Forbidden, Ralph shares another delightful romp with his favorite mythical maritime creatures. The mermaids cook fresh fish on the beach as their tails hang out to dry, suggesting the comedic notion that mermaids boast a wardrobe of interchangeable tails and treat them much the same as swimsuits.

See this work as part of the new exhibition, Ralph Cahoon: Fashioning a Fantasy World, now on view at the Cahoon Museum of American Art.

The museum is open Wednesday - Sunday, 10am-4pm. www.cahoonmuseum.org for tickets and more information.
