Potter County Historical Society Raffles Off Quilt

On Saturday May 5, 2018, the Historical Society raffled off the Friendship Quilt that had been made as a fundraiser. The Chimney Sweep blocks were purchased, sewn and signed by local quilters and quilt enthusiasts. Blocks arranged around the design were also purchased and signed by members of the Historical Society and also signed on behalf of members from the past who had been important historians and researchers at the society. Donna Lehman is shown reaching into the jar for the winning ticket. The winner of the quilt is Linda Roberts from Coudersport. Tickets had been purchased from New York, Maryland and Ohio and one of the people present at the drawing was glad the quilt would stay local! Linda had been away that weekend and responded to a message left on her machine and the quilt was delivered to her. The proceeds from this fundraiser have been earmarked for the purchase of acid free storage boxes and papers that will protect the most delicate aging quilts in the Historical Society’s Quilt Room.
