There is still time to submit your art work - tea related subject - for the Art of Tea competition at the Art League of Baytown Gallery, 110 W. Texas Avenue, Baytown, Texas. It can be any art media - painting, drawing, clay, metal, photography, mixed, wood, etc. January is our Culture of Tea Event fundraiser. We had a great response to this last year even though we were in the throws of COVID lockdown but we did receive beautiful artwork from several states though most were from Texas. There is no time limit on when the art work was produced. You can go online to art-league-of-baytown.org for more information on how to enter. Prizes are $300 first place, $200, second place, $100 third place, $50, honorable mentions. Art work will be on exhibit from January 8th - February 12th. Please take into consideration a 30% commission on sales when you are pricing your pieces.

CALLING ALL ARTISTS! To my clay friends, there is still time to enter those fabulous teapots and tea bowls you've been working on all year. And if you are an artist who creates in a different medium, we'd love for you to enter. All art media is eligible. We have a fabulous art gallery and great support from our City. This year we won't be closed down but even last year we received shipment on the entries from all over. the country and installed the exhibit which lasted for six weeks. Everything went smoothly and great care was given to all entries. I hope the link on this post will work but it's not a difficult one to type in. Art Call is a great way to work with competitions. I hope you enter. I am. Right now my kiln should be cooled down enough to open. I've got two teapots ready and two more in this kiln. We can enter up to four pieces.

wow! all three of my sculpture submissions were juried into the Upcycling Event that Art League of Baytown is hosting and Chevron Phillips is sponsoring. Now they have to go through another judging but I'm happy already. "It's a Southern Thing" is the 2 gallon functional vessel; St. Mark is the cubist style face; "Surge and Recede" is my expressive sculpture of what my backyard looked like after Hurricane IKE's storm surge receded. All made with recycled clay and glazed with the ashes of the debris of Hurricane IKE. And there was a lot of it.
