Today (yes on a Tuesday) we opened up the museum for the adventurers group of the Neighbors and Friends of Table Rock Lake. Our volunteer extraordinaire, Elenor Cooper, was asked to be photographed with the group. Stay tuned for more info about how you can volunteer digitally or locally in Crane.

Help Keep the Flags Flying Proudly Over Crane

The Stone County Historical/Genealogical Society & Museum is proud to launch our “50 Flags for America 250” campaign to help replace aging flag poles and American flags displayed throughout the City of Crane.

For years, these flags have lined our streets during holidays, festivals, memorial observances, and patriotic events. As our community prepares for America’s 250th anniversary, many of the current poles, spinners, and hardware have become worn and weathered and need replacement.

Our goal is to raise $2,000 by July 4th, 2026 to purchase:

50 new 1-inch steel flag poles
New American flags where they were damaged by defective poles.
Rotating spinners
Top stops and mounting hardware

These upgraded poles and flags will help ensure Crane continues to display the American flag with pride during America 250 celebrations and future community events.

This project is about more than replacing equipment. It is about:
🇺🇸 honoring veterans
🇺🇸 preserving community traditions
🇺🇸 beautifying Crane
🇺🇸 celebrating America’s 250th anniversary

Every donation helps keep the flags flying proudly over our community.

Have a love for history, details, and preserving the past? This role is for you.

Our Archivist Volunteers are the backbone of the museum—helping ensure that the stories of Stone County are protected for future generations.

✨ As an Archivist Volunteer, you can help:
• Organize and catalog historical documents and photographs
• Preserve fragile records and artifacts
• Assist with digitizing and scanning collections
• Keep our archives accessible for researchers and families

Every document you help preserve is a story saved. Every photo you organize is a connection restored.

🎶 Step Back in Time with the Sounds of Stone County 🎶

Did you know we have a beautiful collection of historic musical instruments on display at the Stone County Historical/Genealogical Society & Museum?

From a well-traveled trumpet case marked “Crane, MO” to vintage stringed instruments and stories of Moondog, these pieces tell the story of local bands, school programs, community gatherings, and the musicians who helped shape the soundtrack of our county’s history.

Imagine the parades marched, the dances played, the church hymns sung, and the hometown pride carried in that very case. 🎺

These instruments aren’t just artifacts — they’re echoes of Stone County’s past.

We’re open Thursdays 10–4 and Saturdays 10–2.
Stop in, explore our exhibits, browse the reference library, and discover the stories that make our community unique.
