Everyone always wants to know the locations of the mines and the railroads.

Most mine locations are now private properties and some of where the railroad tracks are. Before you explore make sure you are not on private property.

The Paint River is expected to crest Sunday Night (4/19/2026) at 8.9' . The record is 9.8' in 1960. The measuring gauge is located below the Falls Dam just downstream from the Crystal Falls Power Plant building. Flooding upstream of the dam, especially in the Amasa area, is extreme caused by the Hemlock River which flows into the upper Paint River in Section 13 - T44N/R34W Northwest of the Bates/Amasa Road.
