Bringing to life the twin legends of the Texas cowboy and the Longhorn.

The Chisholm Trail Heritage Museum is located in the heart of historic Downtown Cuero, Texas. CTHM aims to preserve the ranching and agricultural heritage of south central Texas, with roots in the great cattle drives of the 1800s. Celebrating the heart of the trail - where Texas cowboys became legends and the longhorn steer an icon.

"Round Up" by Scott Rogers

This dynamic bronze sculpture is the centerpiece for the Steen Roundabout, located in the heart of the Chisholm Trail Heritage Museum campus.

Gifted by the Steen Family Foundation in honor of Lias "Bubba" Steen, this piece evokes the drama and intensity of gathering a herd.

Through his bronze works, Scott Rogers brings people, horses and the spirit of the American West to life.

🎓We'd like to congratulate one of our favorite new high school graduates, Sawyer Fuchs, on his graduation from Cuero High School. Sawyer has worked part time after school and during the summers at CTHM for 2 years. He is a bright, kind and hard working young man that has really learned how to deal with the "old ladies" at work. We're sure proud of you, Sawyer!

Sawyer is the son of Christi and Troy Fuchs, and plans to attend Texas State University in the fall. We're lucky Sawyer will help us with Cowboy Camp one last time before he goes off to college.

Happy trails, Sawyer! Eat 'em up! 🤠⭐

⭐ What a wonderful evening welcoming our newest crop of published authors from Nursery, Meyersville and Yorktown elementary schools!

These students wrote first person journal entries from the view of someone - or something - on a cattle drive in the 1800s! This book was part of an engaging field trip experience with 4th and 5th grade students from each school.

🤠Congratulations to these young authors! And special thanks to the teachers and school leaders who helped make this project so successful.

👒This program is funded in part by the Debra Baros Education Fund.

📸 Now open through July 11! Thank you to our community for joining us to celebrate the opening of our newest photography exhibition entitled "Lonesome Dove." We are thrilled to host this exhibition, presented in partnership with and .collections .

⭐ Special thanks to Susannah Broyles, Archivist with The Wittliff Collections, for sharing wonderful behind the scenes archives from the making of the popular mini-series released in 1989. Fun fact: instead of Diane Lane, Lori's role could have been played by Uma Thurman or Julia Roberts!

⭐City of Cuero Mayor Emil Garza and Velma Garza recently stopped by for a hard hat tour of the ongoing Trautwein Expansion project. Mayor Garza met with CTHM Board Chair Rick Bluntzer and Vice Chair Patricia Miller to get a better idea of the exciting things to come.

👷🏽‍♂️Special thanks to Weaver & Jacobs Site Manager Aaron Erdelt for coordinating a safe tour and answering questions.

Construction crews are working daily to prepare the space for new use. In addition to 3 new art & history galleries, the second floor of the Trautwein building will become a multi-use community space highlighted by this amazing rooftop deck! Mayor Garza gave two thumbs up! 👍🏼👍🏼
