UPDATE: Due to unforseen circumstances we have had to change the date of the Cemetery tour. HOMETOWN HEROES and AMERICA'S 250th Cemetery Tour: the Historical Society of Cu***ng/Forsyth County is having problems receiving funds online, the cause for the delay in posting availability for tickets. We have always collaborated with Age Well Forsyth as we are this year. To make entry please pay at the gate on Resthaven when you arrive, using cash, check or card, choose your own arrival time, to tour the Cemetery on October 23th and 24th.Tours are 6pm, 6:15, 6:30, 6:45, 7pm, 7:15, 7:30, 7:45, 8pm, 8:15, 8:30, and 8:45 each night. $20 per person. Hope to see everyone there and celebrate our Veterans and America's 250th Birthday.

We had a very successful day today at Sherrill House workday. We were able to get all of the front porch posts sanded and applied one coat of Kilz, and glass panes installed and glazed in three window sashes. Not bad for just three of us working. Thanks Chase Wilbanks and JimmyandMartha McConnell.

I know this is short notice, we the Historical Society of Cu***ng/Forsyth County will be having a workday tomorrow Saturday September 19th at the Sherrill House located at 8395 Old Federal Rd beginning at 9am. We need anyone willing to help and volunteer some of your day. We will be concentrating on installing window panes and sanding the posts on the front porch. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

We will be having a workday at the Sherrill House located at 8395 Old Federal Rd on Saturday, September 12th beginning at 9am. We will be concentrating on the following projects: replacing the front steps, replacing and glazing window panes, and sanding the front porch posts. Please bring any tools you have that will be helpful in these projects. We need all volunteers that are willing to help so that we accomplish the maximum this Saturday. Thank you in advance for your help.

Just wanted to share our newest donations that we have been blessed with. A telephone switchboard circa 1940's, a Friden adding machine with 100 number keys that was used in the opening of GSK bearings in Gainesville, and a Brownie bakelite camera with removable flash.

Armed Forces Day Craft Market Invitation: We invite all veterans and active military personnel to attend our Craft Market on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, located at the corner of School Street and Pilgrim Mill Road. A tent will be reserved for veterans and active military personnel to engage with attendees and share their stories. Your presence is greatly appreciated, and we salute your dedication to our country.

A substantial donation of $5800.00 has been made to the Sherrill House restoration project by an individual preferring anonymity. The donor has specified that their gift be acknowledged solely by an invitation to others to contribute an amount of their choosing in support of the project.
