On the Feast of the Assumption, Jesuit faculty and staff gathered for a retreat that invited reflection on Mary in many ways — including a tour of our museum’s Marian artwork. A beautiful reminder of how faith, art, and learning come together on our campus.

Before the end of the year, history students in Mr. Livingstone and Ms. Segal’s class visited the Vietnam Remembrances exhibition, presented by docent Bob Hendler ’66.

The exhibit features 18 powerful lithographs by Don Schol ’59, based on his firsthand experience as a Combat Artist during the Vietnam War. His expressive, emotional works were later completed in Hawaii for the U.S. Army’s official War Art Collection and reflect both the trauma and humanity of wartime.

Special thanks to John Mullen ’59 for donating the series, and to the Jesuit Dallas Museum for making this meaningful encounter possible.

⚡️Lightning Field (1997) by Lee N. Smith pulses with surreal energy as boys march forward with a torch and lightning rod, their faces lit in vivid "Dayglow" tones.
A self-taught Texas artist, Smith’s bold style has earned international recognition—including the Venice Biennale. This work has been exhibited at both the Perot and Tyler Museums.

“Sheffield Blue”
Paul Jenkins (1923 – 2012)
Color lithograph, 38” x 29”

Artwork gifted by Frank Ribelin ‘50.

Paul Jenkins’ vibrant and cheerful colors capture the spirit, vitality, and invention of post-WWII American Abstraction. Born in Kansas City during a lightning storm, Jenkins’ journey took him from meeting Thomas Hart Benton and Frank Lloyd Wright as a boy to studying under the G.I. Bill in New York, where he mingled with legends like Jackson Po***ck and Mark Rothko. His work, celebrated in both the US and Europe, embodies the essence of the avant-garde artist.
