A newly reframed original etching by James Abbott McNeill Whistler is now available for sale on our website.

James Abbott McNeill Whistler (1834-1903) was an American artist based in the United Kingdom during the second half of the 19th century. Devoted to the idea of “art for art’s sake,” Whistler became a central figure in the Aesthetic Movement. As an artist very much ahead of his time, his artist beliefs and theories would greatly influence the art world and later become central principles of 20th century modernism.

Whistler produced numerous prints throughout his artistic career and gained a distinguished reputation as an etcher. He took great care over both the printing of his etchings and the choice of paper. Concerning Whistler as an etcher, Martin Hardie once wrote "there are some who set him beside Rembrandt, perhaps above Rembrandt, as the greatest master of all time. Personally, I prefer to regard them [Whistler and Rembrandt] as the Jupiter and Venus, largest and brightest among the planets in the etcher's heaven."

We are thrilled to announce the addition of captivating sculptures by Morton Rachofsky to our website. A student of Octavio Medellin and James Surls, Morton Rachofsky was an innovative sculptor with a passion for creating rearrangeable and geometric works of art. As a businessman and inventor, Rachofsky’s analytical and mathematical background inspired his approach to sculpture.

These are some of the Morton Rachofsky sculptures recently added to our website.

Rachofsky considered his major artistic influence to be the works of Spanish sculptor Miguel Berrocal. Like Berrocal, Rachofsky was fascinated with mathematics and concept of creating interlocking and rearrangeable works of art.

Rachofsky’s lifelong interest in puzzles guided his creative process and led him to create sculptures that could be continuously rearranged and transformed. His pieces are playful and interactive as he invites viewers to assemble and reassemble his sculptures.
