Join us for a conversation with artist Lillian Young as she discusses her creative process and work in her current exhibition, The Problem with Archives: A Picture is Worth our Words””. Explore how Lillian’s work incorporates language and portraiture to inform viewers about stories in African American history that have been neglected and lost while emphasizing the need to make conscious efforts to preserve the stories of the living.

The MAC has an urgent need for immediate funding in order to maintain operations. Although we've continued to offer engaging, high quality programming, since reopening after the pandemic, The MAC has operated almost completely through membership dues and has had no major sponsorships and has not been granted crucial local and state funding. We cannot continue without help. In order to hold our annual membership exhibition and the 2023-24 season and beyond. we desperately need help from the community. We are building up the resources and having the conversations that will help us attain future sponsorships and grants; however necessary expenses must be addressed within the week.

For nearly 30 years, The MAC has offered high quality visual arts programming for free to the public. During this time, we've held important early shows for now known international artist and MORE IMPORTANTLY, we've served as the launchpad for countless Texas artists into the institutional exhibitiion world, having produced the first big shows for a large number of Texas artists you know by name.

If you have had a good experience at The MAC, please give $20, $100, $1000 or more now.

For new and renewing members, we'll offer discounts through May 6, so that
- [ ] $40 buys a 1 year artist/basic membership
- [ ] $75 buys a 1 year MAC PAC (enhanced) membership
- [ ] $115 buys a 1 year Dual MAC PAC membership

The MAC is pleased to announce three solo exhibitions including work by Morgan Grasham, Sarah Lasley and Laura J. Lawson.

These mark the beginning of The MAC’s 2022—2023 artistic season, curated by a jury of prominent international and regional art figures.

"Memory Beast," "Welcome to the Enclave" and "Venus and Mars: Climates in Dialogue" are on view from September 10 through October 8, 2022, with an opening reception Saturday, September 10 from 6 to 9 pm.

In conversation for the first time at The MAC, Grasham, Lasley and Lawson provoke a novel reconsideration of the natural, augmented and astral environments that surround us today.

"Memory Beast" promotes an interspecies dialogue wherein viewers can envision a sustainable and symbiotic future. Through video and installation, creates an intimacy between man and beast, dissolving the dichotomy presupposed therein.

In "Venus and Mars: Climates in Dialogue," takes on the role of a whimsical-cartographer, transposing aerial images of Venus and Mars into striking representations of celestial grandeur.

In collaboration with , looks at the relationship between augmented and virtual reality, Anglo-American domesticity and ecological disaster. The trailer for "Welcome to the Enclave" is available via the link in our bio!
