Some exciting news for this year at the forge. We are working on getting the Little Giant Power Hammer up and running and hooked up to an electric motor. We are also getting quotes to have a propane tank installed so that we can run additional gas forges at the same time.
We will also start experimenting with the foundry and start casting aluminum and brass. In the future, we plan on casting commemorative coins, scratch blocks (you buy a form, you engrave it and we pour the mold. after it cools and we clean it up, you take it home) and whatever else we come up with.
We will be open for Darlington Days (May 31st and June 1st). All the Museums will be open. We will have the Cobb Oven fired and selling personal wood fire pizzas for $5 each.

We will be open next Saturday and Sunday June 3rd and 4th. Stop down and see what the blacksmiths are making.

We will be open the first weekend in May for Beaver County Histor Days. Have the kids ask the Blacksmiths for a mini sword. I'm hoping to have them make a few meat forks for the cabin and cob oven.

Stop down this weekend for Darlington Days. We'll be running the Forge and making pizza in the earthen oven. Pizzas will be $5 each.

Looking at the hammer, we find the serial number 2326 (H2326 since it is a 25 # hammer). Looking at the ledgers, Hammer 2326 shipped on 3/23/1918 to Faith Iron Company in Crowley, Colorado. Since it is doubtful that the hammer went to Colorado then to Philadelphia, they looked further into the records and found that hammer 2375 shipped on 5/14/1918 to Frank Toomey Inc in Philadelphia. Little Giant thinks that the hammers were probably mixed up and sent to the wrong address'.
I've reached out the the Crowley Heritage Center to see if they have any information on the Faith Iron Company, so there is more to come.

What we do know, this hammer is 104 years old and will be back in use in our blacksmith shop.

While we are waiting on the sales info, there is a plate on the opposite side from the serial number for "Frank Toomey, Inc Philadelphia, PA". A little research and we find that Frank Toomey Produces and supplies steam-pumping machinery. Was it used to produce parts for the Reilly Pump?

Some of you may know that we have a 25 # Little Giant Power Hammer in the shop. This hammer was designed to operate off a line shaft for power. As we do not have a line shaft in the forge, we need to add an electric motor and V-belt to make it operational. While researching the materials needed, I found that the Little Giant Hammer Company is still in operation. https://www.littlegianthammer.com/ They have access to the original sales and service records for all hammers they have sold, and are researching our Hammer's Serial Number.
