Daniel David Palmer was born on this day in 1845 in Ontario, Canada. By 1865, D.D. and his brother T.J. set out for the United States. The next 20 years he was involved with school teaching, growing berries, gathering honey, and running a grocery business. Around the age of 40, D.D. began his career of Magnetic healing. He discovered chiropractic in 1895 and two years later shared it with humanity by teaching the science, art and philosophy to others. This one person changed the world forever by sharing the gift of chiropractic. Happy birthday to D.D. Palmer, the founder of chiropractic!

Happy Founder’s Day! Today is the day that we celebrate the founding of the chiropractic profession in 1895. D.D. Palmer adjusted Harvey Lillard on the fourth floor of the Ryan Building in Downtown Davenport 129 years ago. Did you know that we have the bench used to adjust Harvey Lillard on display in our Museum? It is placed in the D.D. Palmer’s Office exhibit in the first floor lobby area of Vickie Anne Palmer Hall - don’t miss it!
