Last Friday was the soft opening for a new studio in downtown Davis, Secret Spot. Don't worry, they'll be open again for the September 8 ArtAbout if you missed the art, music, and games. Their studio is located behind The Wardrobe, who hosted a special Pink Party for ArtAbout too. A very exciting evening!

Volunteers needed at the Pence! In particular, we would love to have more volunteers with weekend availability. Our volunteer docents manage the front desk, greet and assist visitors, and handle gift store transactions. This is also a wonderful opportunity to learn more about our gallery, meet artists, and get involved in the art community.

Requirements:
- Age 18+ years old
- Must have cash & credit handling experience
- Able to contribute at least 2 shifts/month (shifts are 2.5-3 hours long)
- Extra points if you are passionate about the arts!

If interested, you can apply to volunteer by completing the Volunteer Opportunities form located on our website under Support > Volunteer, or drop by the Pence to fill out a physical form. Afterwards, we will reach out to you to schedule an interview and discuss the volunteer position.

Always remember it is never to, late in your life to unapologetically own. Your own true and daringly un abashedly flaunt it for the next generation. On 2015. I was a really groundbreaking, highly impressive and technically phenomenal production of the play She Kills Monsters directed by the SSU theater director Paul Draper, he previously cast me as Hermia in Midsummers nights dreams at SSU and changed my life permanently in the caliber of art I began to create from my 18th birthday on. Kaliope the dark elf, the role I played was my introduction into the world of D&D (but certainly not the world of geekery) and she is definitely a proud alter ego. I still have her ears to this day. She kills monsters is now a staple in hoghschool drama departments nation wide and I touches my heart that just maybe when some lucky kid gets cast as Kaliope they might stumble upon my pics on Google--and despite their gender, age, race, ethnicity, sexuality, or how much experience they have in acting. They might be excited to play this quirky dark elf who is definitely always in the mood for danger but never wants anyone's ex to be a gelatinous cube despite their type.
